Do you remember the "big news story" before 9/11?
The title of this post is a good clue...
Give up?
It was
Gary Condit and the missing
Chandra Levy. It was all over
the news. You could not pick up a
newspaper,
magazine or
turn on the TV without being bombarded with 24 hour coverage.
Then the planes hit the towers
This story was rightfully send to the back pages where it belonged in the first place. Our national obsession with the schtoooooopid had finally come to an end and the all it took was a major terror attack on our soil.
Does this remind you of anything current? It reminds me of the current media obsession with
Lacy/
Scott Perterson and
Kobe Bryant. The fact that I know these names is annoying to me. I really believed that it would take more than 3 years for the media (and the people) to revert back to schtooopid celebrity trials and other useless crap.
Meanwhile, try finding decent reporting (from the old media) on events in
Afghanistan,
Iraq,
Darfur, general
updates on the WoT, etc.
Try finding anything not superficial on the conventions or US news...
The day of the BLOG is here and the nation is better for it.
