Good News From Afghanistan
The Belgravia Dispatch (via Instapundit) brings us this good news from Afghanistan. The referenced article, astonishingly, is in the New York Times.
While two out of three Afghans cited security as their most pressing concern in a poll taken this summer by the International Republican Institute, four out of five respondents also said things are better than they were two years ago.

More at the Dispatch and the Times.

I feel that given 2-3 years more of our current work in Iraq, we will be seeing this kind of progress there as well. Afghanistan, believe it or not, has some advantages over Iraq in the process of growing a democracy. Only 1 unfriendly neighbor (Iran), a population that has more trust of the US, no oil real interests and NATO involvement. Yep, it sure would be nice if NATO would get involved in Iraq and I am sure Sen. Kerry (D - France) would wave his magic wand and sprinkle fairy dust on our "allies" and they would rush right in, or maybe not...
